Artist Statement:
Mariko is inspired by Japanese traditional architecture and the spirit of Zen, which are essential parts of human lives as a central part of Japanese culture and a place where people have basic connections with natural surroundings. Collaging is an essential part of her creation. By adding elements onto others, she always finds many different ways of assembling them in creating jewellery. Enamelling with simple colours enables her to explore her images of natural materials and textures which can be found in Japanese architecture.
